Lens of Culture Project
The Lens of Culture project is basically to put yourself in others shoes and see there culture. It is a very amazing project because there are so many different cultures around us and we just stay in our "bubble" and don't explore anything else. It was fun researching different cultures and seeing others' rituals to see there point of view on certain situations. Also, I think it was a great experience because it taught me to not use my first impression on things for everything and read the rest of the story instead of judging a book by its cover.
The Pilgrimage we had this year took 3 days, from Barrio Logan to La Jolla. You can say it was the best time ever; friends, food, and basically no parents. Honestly, after that pilgrimage I felt I was part of something, a new family, I had the time of my life while actually learning and seeing all the different cultures at every corner. This is something I will never forget, ever. We had to sleep on the floor and walk many miles but it all paid off, we came back a new team. It brought out the best in anyone and if anyone told me I could change anything about it, I wouldn't, every single thing was perfect and I'm glad I got the chance to spend this with Team Journey 2013. Not only do you have so much freedom but the best thing is knowing that you are being trusted and treated like an adult. Everyone on that walk made an impact on me and changed me for the better. People that I hadn't talked to ever before I was talking to as if they were my best friends, my teachers were my friends as well. Everything just seemed to fit into place. So thank you Team Journey for that amazing experience, I wouldn't change it for the world.
