Introduction - This project was based all around science fiction. Our final product had to be a book filled with short sic fi stories. Each person in our team would have a story and we would make the book from scratch, as we did for the Book Of Us Project.
Reflection, 4 weeks later -
Next time I write I want to remember to actually have fun and really experiment with different things while my story is developing because I feel that it made my story stronger in the end. I would also always like to remember to question everything because that will make my story stronger as well because it leaves no room for questions and makes it all clear. I wish I would've gotten an actual topic sooner so I could have had more time to actually work on my story and not a bunch of drafts but in the end drafts helped so it wasn't too bad. |
Reflection -
This project was very interesting and very different. At first I had absolutely no ideas. I'm sure I changed my story completely about 3 times. I would get an idea and halfway through my story I would go blank and couldn't finish. Of course, I wanted my story to be good so I resorted to go back to the drawing board instead of trying to get an idea of a blank thought. I started off with something about cannibalism, then flying, and somehow ended up with mind reading. I'm sure there were many other sections to all these other stories but this is what I mainly remember from them. The best thing about this type of writing is that you can really change it at any time, you can have fun with it and really add or subtract things from it. There's so much freedom and I think that's why so many of us enjoyed this project, which was my personal favorite compared to the Book of Us. The toughest thing for me was the writer's block, of course, that I mentioned earlier. I feel that my story would've maybe even have been better if I hadn't wasted so much time deciding on a topic. All my drafts seemed to be completely different, even when I had finally decided on my topic. They all had something that was changed whether it was formatted in a letter or a story, to actual plots that developed in a certain direction that I wasn't intending on before. I think my final product is what I wanted to accomplish in such a short amount of time. I plan on having more fun with writing, maybe not seeing it as so much of a chore. I realized that I actually like to write when I'm giving this much freedom and should learn to like it in general because I'm not always good at putting my thoughts into words and sometimes my words don't come out how I mean them too, writing lets me better this. Also, I will make sure to get my story critiqued lots and lots of times because it truly helps when you get good feedback/corrections and you can physically see how much better your story is now. |
